Brutal!

It's been a while since I've been compelled to write a review for anything on here, but I always look forward to new songs by you guys. The best way I can sum up this song is by saying it's "insanely brutal."

The guitar tone is heavy yet crystal clear, and the riffs are original and very in-your-face (as several others have mentioned). I found myself headbanging along throughout most of the song. The drums are also mixed very well with a clear and full kick as well as a snare that pulls through the mix without being obtrusive in the least. All in all, the instrumental comes together very nicely to make a very heavy and energetic song.

I am actually quite jealous of the vocals. I wish my vocals were as heavy and as brutally toned as these. They fit beautifully with the rest of the song, and while heavy they are more understandable than a lot of vocals I've heard.

Overall, incredible job on this track! I look forward to hearing more from you guys!

LOL

That was so random and stupid, it was hilarious! I totally LOLd... so great.

Long buildup... a little too long...

Overall, this song is pretty good. You've certainly done an incredible job as far as mixing and composition goes. However, the one thing that bothered me was the extremely long buildup at the beginning. I understand that you were trying to get the listener pumped for the drop as well as trying to make the drop more intense by building it up then dropping the levels, but I feel that you dragged it out just a bit too long. I actually lost the anticipation you had worked to build up before the drop finally came.
As for the drop itself, I like the sound, but I don't feel like it was quite as hard hitting as it should have been after that long buildup. Perhaps a little bit more low-end would have helped with your wobble. Of course, that's just my preference, and overall it was mixed in extremely well. So, no points off there.
All in all, this song came out incredibly well with the exception (in my opinion of course) of the overly long buildup. Overall, nice tune! 4/5 8/10

I can see where you're coming from. The build-up is pretty lengthy. And I also wish the drop was more hard-hitting, but my mixing skills realllllllllly hinder the outcome of most of my songs :/

I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

I am in awe.

This track is absolutely incredible! You've meshed the orchestra together with the dubstep flawlessly, and the strings sounded incredibly realistic. What did you use to program them?

On another note, I have only two criticisms. Firstly, the wobble bass could have used a little bit more low end to make it sound a bit fuller. It's not a huge deal, though, and it still fit beautifully with the rest of the track. So, no points off there.

Second thing isn't really a criticism, but more of a note. When I listened to this track for the first time, the glitch seemed really out of place and ugly. However, after listening to the track some more, I feel that it really adds to the track and gives it an awesome feel.

Finally, the ending was just insanity. It was so powerful, yet short which leaves the listener wanting more (and in my case listening to this track on loop :D ). Great job on all counts! 5/5 10/10

Thanks for a great review, pal ;)

Incredible!

I don't even like hip hop usually. I actually listen to death metal and stuff like that, but this song was just godly. Awesome melody/beat and insane rapping. The use of ridiculously big words reminds me of Whitechapel. I'd love to hear some more tracks like this!

Pretty good

Overall, I think this track was pretty good in terms of recording quality, mixing, and composition. It definitely had a unique, almost dream-like, sound to it, and uniqueness is becoming increasingly difficult to find in music recently. So, very nice job on that.

My only criticism is the constant chugging going on throughout the song. It's alright for a little bit, but it eventually became rather tedious and annoying because of its repetitive nature.

Aside from that, great job! 4/5 & 8/10

Beautiful!

I loved this song so much after watching Elfen Lied. It's so sad and beautiful. Your cover of it sounds just as beautiful. My only suggestion would be to build up the intensity just a little bit around the chord progression at: 0:49 by raising the volume a bit with each chord and perhaps increasing the tempo very slightly throughout that section.

Back-From-Purgatory responds:

Yeah, how you describe what I should do is generally how I play it now that I can play it a lot better than I did here. The velocity in this is a little off on the piano section mostly because when I was recording, I originally recorded the MIDI with the music box sound loaded, then switched it too piano afterwords. Problem with that was that the music box sound I was using isn't velocity sensitive, so I tended to hit the keys the same the whole way through.

I may actually re-record this just to fix that.

But glad you liked it otherwise.

Nice!

I know this was posted almost a year ago, but it's pretty sick. I'm usually not a big fan of that repetitive bass drum, but it flowed nicely with the music in this case. Also, very nice synths and riffs! 5/5

Thanks for the review! It's better late than never :)

Bass!

Good thing I just got a sub-woofer for Christmas :D

This isn't really my style of music, but hey, I like it. It's got a nice beat. Good stuff.

lmfao

I was going to give this a 0/5 but it was just so damn entertaining lmao. 2/5
